About the Race
A whole Weekend of Cycling!
The Bestmed Cycle4CANSA Classic, hosted by Sun City, presents a whole weekend of cycling activities for the 22nd anniversary edition of the popular event.
The Road Classic offers distances of 103km and 70km and takes place on Sunday, 25 August 2018. The MTB Classic, which presents 25km and 50km route options, fills the Saturday slot (24 August) over the weekend cycling festival.
Entries are now open for the 22nd anniversary edition of the Bestmed Cycle4CANSA Weekend, hosted by Sun City on 24 and 25 August 2019 and the organisers are offering a 15% early bird entry discount for riders who enter before Friday 2 March 2019.
The Bestmed Cycle4CANSA Road Classic, hosted by Sun City is a premier seeding event for the Cape Town Cycle Tour and the event has to date raised in excess of R3.6 Million for the Cancer Association of South Africa.

Cyclists receive a Valley of Waves voucher at registration in their Race Pack.
Free Entrance for vehicles into the Sun City Resort before 06h30 on Sunday and 07h30 on Saturday.
MTB start and finish
The MTB Start/Finish is in the parking lot at the Sky Train Station. The Start is the left of the Station with the finish on the right at the MVP Parking area.
Road Race start and finish
The Road Race starts in the Exit Road from Sun City in front to the MAIN ENTRANCE on the right (as you look at the chute from outside the venue). The finish remains as is outside the Sun City Main Gate.
The casino resort offers convenient and safe parking as well as a variety of family entertainment options once the racing is done, including free entry into the Valley of Waves.
Although there is a new temporary conference facility erected in the main parking lot, Sun City has created ample overflow parking areas to deal with the influx of cyclists.
The new conference facility will this year host registration on Friday afternoon as well as the race village during the course of the weekend as well as prize giving.

The cut-off time for the road race as well as the mountain bike race is 13h00, when all officials will be withdrawn from the route. Riders can continue on their own cognisance but officials will remove your race number.
Substitution of numbers/Changing of distances
No cyclist may use another person’s cycling number. If you are unable to cycle, someone may take your place with a letter of authorization from you. Your entry fee will not be refunded and the substitute participant will be required to pay a fee of R60 over and above the applicable entry fee. Distance changes will be treated as a substitution.
No substitutions will be allowed on race day, regardless of circumstance.

• NO HELMET NO RIDE
• Ample Lead and sweep vehicles will be available as well as a strong contingent from Metro Police.
• All participants are deemed to have acquainted themselves with the rules and regulations and are bound to them.
• Cyclists must at all times stay on the left-hand side of the road.
• Cyclists must at all times obey the instructions of the traffic officers and marshals and comply strictly with the rules of the road, unless authorized to the contrary by a traffic officer or a marshal.
• Failure to comply will lead to disqualification.
Prize Giving and Lucky draw
Prize giving will start at 12:00 on Sunday and 11:00 on Saturday.
A lucky draw will take place.
No prize money will be handed to winners before the prize giving, regardless of circumstance.
You will forfeit the prize money / trophy if you are not present at the prize giving.
The event will take place regardless of weather conditions and will only be cancelled for safety reasons. No refunds will be made.
Medical assistance will be provided at the start, along the route and at the finish by Helivac
Event Medical Specialists in cooperation with Helivac Emergency Evacuation Services. Any cyclist requiring hospital care will be taken to the closest Hospital or medical treatment of their choice.

The provisional results of the event will be available within 24 hours on the website: www.racetec.co.za. Any objections must be tabled with the race organizer / referee / CSA officials within 1 hour after the finish of the race, and accompanied by a payment of R100.
Further changes to the results must be sent to email@example.com no later than 7 days after the race. NO CHANGES will be made thereafter, as they cannot be included in the National Seeding Index.
Late line entries will only be accepted at the registration venues as indicated, not on the day of the race.
A penalty fee of R60 will be applicable for all distances on the MTB as well as the ROAD events.
No seeding for late entries, you will be seeded in the non seeded groups
Each rider must complete a separate entry form or enter as required. Please fill in your tandem-partner's Name and ID. Both Tandem riders must wear Race Tec timing chips to have a result and seeding for the event.
Timing results to be done by Race Tec. Each entrant must be in the possession of a Race Tec timing chip to receive timing. Each cyclist must carry the Race Tec timing chip for the duration of the event.
NO CHIP: NO RESULTS, NO PRIZE MONEY
Race Tec timing chips will be for sale at the registration venues as well as at the start at a cost of R130
Powerade and Coke are providing five well stocked refreshment stations on route.
All finishers of the race will receive medals.
